Pontcanna

Treganna

Canton / Treganna
Canton is an inner-city area of west Cardiff. The name (from "St. Canna's Town") refers to the sixth century female saint after whom Pontcanna is also named. The main road through the district is Cowbridge Road East, a busy thoroughfare with many discount shops as well as pubs and restaurants. Canton is home to Thompson's Park and Victoria Park, to the education centre Llanover Hall, and to the Chapter Arts Centre, which is housed in a former school. Canton is near many districts in Cardiff, for instance: Grangetown, Riverside, Llandaff, Creigiau, etc. Famous residents include singer Charlotte Church.

Pontcanna Fields
A well preserved central urban park which, with Bute Park and Sophia Gardens, gives Cardiff an unusually large area of open space in the heart of the city. The magnificent axial lime avenue forms a very striking feature of the parkland. Pontcanna Fields were added to the north of Sophia Gardens in 1879, whilst Llandaff Fields were added in 1898.

Directions
Start from Glamorgan CCC next to the Institute of Sport walking north towards Llandaff. With the campsite on your left you will notice a cricket pitch straddled by a pair of rugby posts. Carry on North and about 10 yards after the boundary edge is the home of Cardiff Softball Association.
